Happy Birthday, ya'll

Lourdes did an awesome Texas-themed birthday cake this week for a 26th birthday celebration in Fort Worth. She carried the theme down to the hat and lasso.

This cake, which is 9" square, is a great size for 20-30 people and is a very popular size  for parties... just enough left over for a late night snack :)

Happy birthday, Texas style!

Geez, blog much?

So as it turns out, I need to work on my blogging. A little pre-New Year's resolution, I suppose!

Here's a 2nd birthday cake Lourdes did for a Cars-crazy kid. Too Cute.
She even made a vanity plate. Ha!

The details were adorable. Lourdes' cakes are so creative!

Nikki's new bambino

Nikki and Dustin are welcoming their first baby boy, very soon indeed. We are thrilled for you!

Her baby shower theme was adorable - baby and mama deer, which was carried on the cake and topped with a big blue and brown bow.

We used Lourdes' new airbrush machine and stencils for the deer. The grass and some of the adornments were made of sugar paper, which added dimension and texture.

Just breathe (or so they say)~

Madison hits the double digits

I can't believe Madison is 10!
Madison's whimsical cake was covered with fondant and purple pearl-dust hearts. She wanted a fairy cake, so the "trail" of pixie dust trailed down each tier and and twinkled by candlelight.

Happy Birthday, my dear Maddie Belle!

Sydney's Birthday Cake

Last Saturday, our little baby Sydney turned 7 years old. How did that happen?? :)

She designed a lovely 3-tier cake with pink ribbon for her birthday cake. Always shooting for the stars, that one is! She had to settle for 2 tiers, but she did get her pink ribbon. The cake was our signature butter and red velvet layers - a family favorite.

Happy Birthday Pinky Pants! Je t'aime!

Chinese New Year Dragon

This weekend we did a cake for a Chinese New Year party, and it is the year of the rabbit!

Lourdes designed an awesome fondant-covered dragon that curled around the top of the cake, and his tail spilled over onto the glass riser. Since it was a black-tie affair, both Mr- Drago and his bunny friend sported bow ties for the evening. Too cute!

The cake alternated red velvet and classic butter cake to tie in the colors of the evening; both were flavored with mixed berry simple syrup.  The fondant and buttercream were vanilla, which created a beautiful slice.

Too bad I'm a sheep.  I guess it's not my year... baaaa :)
